Fall is officially hitting the trail in Greene County as Keep Greene Beautiful offers the return of the 2026 Hay Bale Trail, a community-wide celebration of creativity, agriculture and the beauty of the autumn season.

Now in its second year, the Hay Bale Trail features 31 participating locations throughout Greene County and surrounding communities. Local businesses, farms, nonprofits, a school FFA program and community members have created unique hay bale displays that invite residents and visitors to explore the area and enjoy the creativity of the season.

The 2026 trail includes displays from a variety of participants, including local farms and agricultural businesses, financial institutions, restaurants and other small businesses, nonprofits, a school FFA program and residential participants. The final trail also includes participants in Chuckey, Afton and Mosheim, making the event an opportunity to explore communities throughout the region.

Displays will be available for viewing October 13 through November 13, 2026.

Participants have embraced a wide variety of themes for this year's displays. Some include fall and Halloween themes, while others feature recognizable characters, local agriculture, community organizations and creative interpretations designed specifically for the Hay Bale Trail.

Visitors are encouraged to make the trail part of their fall traditions. Families and friends can travel from stop to stop, enjoy the displays, take photographs and discover local businesses, farms and community organizations along the way.

The trail begins at the Greene County Partnership, 115 Academy Street, Greeneville, Tennessee, and a numbered route has been created to help visitors navigate the participating locations.

Keep Greene Beautiful encourages participants and visitors to share their Hay Bale Trail experiences on social media using #HayKGB.

“We are excited to bring the Hay Bale Trail back for a second year,” said Jessie Beth Miller, Director of Keep Greene Beautiful. “What makes this event so special is the creativity and community spirit behind every display. It gives people a reason to get out and explore Greene County during one of the most beautiful times of the year.”
