Summer Educator In-Service Opportunity

 Education & Workforce Development
   Summer Educator In-Service Opportunity
Thursday, July 28, 2011

Local Educators tour Premium Waters, Inc.

Business and industry tours and meetings with plant managers, company presidents, human resource and training representatives are all a part of the Partnership’s Education and Workforce Development educator in-service opportunity for teachers, counselors and administrators of the Greeneville and Greene County school systems.  This year the event is being held Thursday, July 28, 2011.

The goal of the program is to provide an in-service training program for educators and give insight into what the industry and manufacturing sector is looking for in future employees, as well as give the host companies an opportunity to express their ideas and concerns about students and education with educators.

Participants will visit one facility in the morning and one facility in the afternoon.  In addition to the tours, meetings will be held with industry personnel to discuss such subjects as skills needed today, skills needed five years from today, job availability, changing technologies, work ethic, etc.

This free in-service program is part of the continuing effort in Greene County to provide better communication between the world of education and world of work.  Host companies in 2010 include American Greetings, MECO Corporation, and Forward Air.  By participating in this free in-service, educators come away with a great deal of information and knowledge regarding the expectations for today’s workforce.

Educators from both systems and the Greeneville-Greene County Center for Technology are invited to participate in this free, day-long event.  To register, contact Kelly Burrell, Director of Education & Workforce Development at the Greene County Partnership, 638-4111 or via email at kburrell@greenecop.com.

Deadline to register is Monday, July 25, 2011.

Education & Workforce Development is a joint effort between the Greene County Partnership, the Greeneville City Schools and the Greene County School systems.  The program strives to create linkages between the local schools and businesses, organizations and institutions in the community.
