With its central location in the eastern United States, the community is within a day's drive of more than 70% of the country's population.  Greene County is accessible by Interstate 81, within 50  miles of I-40, I-75 and I-26 and is served by U.S. Highways 11E and 321 and TN 34, 70, 93 and 107.

Greeneville is conveniently located 50 miles from downtown Asheville, NC and is within a 30-minute to one-hour drive from larger towns such as Johnson City, Kingsport, Bristol and Knoxville.

A broad spectrum of events and activities is provided for the enjoyment of local residents.  From the annual May Iris Festival and the summer baseball games of the Greeneville Astros to the June antique car "Cruise-In" and the Christmas performances of "The Nutcracker," the community offers year-round attractions to please individuals from all walks of life.

Antique shops, art galleries, theatre performances by local residents and artistic performances by high school and college students join the events calendar with regular regional and national performances and concerts through the Niswonger Performing Arts Center.

In 2007, Greeneville's two hospitals became home bases for medical-evacuation helicopters.  Takoma Regional Hospital's new air-ambulance service, "Wellmont One Air Transport," is based at the local hospital, providing rapid response to calls throughout Tennessee, Kentucky and Virginia.  Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Mountain States Health Alliance and Wings Air Rescue work to cover points within 125 miles of Greeneville.

Health services are enhanced by Greene County's close proximity to major medical centers in Knoxville and the Tri-Cities area.
