Greene County Convenience Centers

Items Accepted

These centers accept cardboard, newspaper, aluminum cans, used oil, four used tires per year, batteries, metal, demolition and used computers and monitors, as well as household trash.  No televisions will be accepted.

Hours

The Greene County Convenience Centers are open Monday through Friday during the times listed below.  All centers are closed on Sunday.

Thursday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. (S. Greene, W. Greene and Afton open 6 a.m.- 6 p.m.) 
Friday  10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Greeneville/Greene County Landfill/Transfer Station & Public Works Department

Latex paint can be donated if it is full or can be thrown in the trash if it is dried.

The Public Works Department (708 W. Summer Street) accepts oil-based paint, oil, antifreeze, car and truck batteries from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for city residents only.

Recycle Bin Locations

For newspaper, cardboard, paper, magazines and PET No. 1 & HDPE No. 2 Plastic: 

PET No. 1 includes: soft drink and water bottles, mouthwash bottles, peanut butter jars, salad dressing bottles and vegetable and oil bottles

HDPE No. 2 includes: milk jugs, bleach detergent and other household cleaner bottles, shopping bags, butter tubs, yogurt tubs and cereal box liners
