Greene County Convenience Centers

Items Accepted

These centers accept #1 and #2 plastics, plastic shopping bags, cardboard, newspaper, aluminum cans, used oil, four used tires per year, batteries, metal, used wire (at Afton and West Greene centers only), old furniture, and electronic waste (items plugged into an outlet), as well as household trash.  

Hours

The Greene County Convenience Centers are open Monday through Friday during the times listed below.  All centers are closed on Wednesday and Sunday.

The Greeneville/Greene County Landfill/Transfer Station & Public Works Department

Latex paint can be donated if it is full or can be mixed with kitty litter or mulch and thrown in the trash.

The Public Works Department (708 W. Summer Street) accepts oil-based paint, oil, antifreeze, car and truck batteries from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday for city residents only.

Recycle Bin Locations

For newspaper, cardboard, paper, magazines and PET No. 1 & HDPE No. 2 Plastic: 

PET No. 1 includes: soft drink and water bottles, mouthwash bottles, peanut butter jars, salad dressing bottles and vegetable and oil bottles

HDPE No. 2 includes: milk jugs, bleach detergent and other household cleaner bottles, shopping bags, butter tubs, yogurt tubs and cereal box liners
