The Greene County Partnership Agribusiness Committee’s Greene County Farm and Garden Expo, title sponsored by Farm Credit Services, will be held on Friday, October 3, and Saturday, October 4, at the Greene County Fair Grounds. This expo is planned for farmers (full or part-time), homeowners, and gardeners.
The goal of the Expo organizers is to introduce and promote businesses, organizations, and services in Greeneville and Greene County that serve agriculture, gardening, and lawn care. There will be programs and demonstrations for homeowners and gardeners as well as demonstrations of the newest and best livestock handling equipment for livestock producers. From a human interest standpoint there will be demonstrations in quilting, soap making, wood carving, and candle making. In addition there will be planned activities for children of all ages.
One highlight of the expo will be a straightforward evaluation of the Biofuel Initiative. This discussion will include the topic “Is Switchgrass an Option for My Farm?” Friday’s program will highlight beef production concluding with a discussion of issues concerning local beef producers.
There will be a trade show each day highlighting Greeneville and Greene County vendors’ products and services. Expo attendees can register for door prizes which will be given away daily. Also, at the conclusion of each day’s program a grand prize drawing will be held.
