Greene County’s government is run by the county mayor and a county commission consisting of 21 elected members.
Also located within Greene County are the towns of Mosheim and Baileyton and the city of Tusculum. Mosheim and Baileyton are governed by their own boards. Mosheim has a mayor and four aldermen, and Baileyton has a mayor, a vice mayor and three aldermen. The city of Tusculum elects three commissioners who choose one of their number to serve as mayor.
